- 1 cup organic palm oil shortening
- 1/2 lb maple cream
- 1/3 cup cacoa powder
- 1 tbs unsweetened hemp milk or other unsweetened milk substitute
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 pinch sea salt
Ingredients

- Add all ingredients to electric mixer bowl and mix well. Begin mixing on low until all dry ingredients are incorporated, then mix on high until all shortening is no longer visible and smooth consistency is achieved.
- If frosting is too thick, add more milk, 1 tablespoon at a time. If frosting is too thin, add more cacoa powder, 1 tablespoon at a time. Be sure cupcakes are fully cooled before frosting or else frosting will melt and slide off cupcakes!
This frosting can be made vanilla or another color using natural food coloring by removing the cacoa powder from ingredients. Keep in mind that the maple cream will be incredibly sweet without the added bitterness of the cacoa powder. If you remove the chocolate, then consider either cutting the maple cream in half or removing from recipe entirely!
